When someone brings a picture to me I always say it’s a good picture. Because it already contains subject matter important to the taker. In picture taking as opposed to artistic photography, subject matter always outweighs technical excellence. Artistic photography is rarely about what you add and only slightly more about what you keep. More often than not its about what you leave out and what you can’t leave behind.
